Apple has officially announced that John Ternus will become its new CEO, succeeding Tim Cook, effective September 1, 2026.

The decision was made by Apple's board of directors as part of a long-term strategy to ensure sustainable leadership and innovation. Tim Cook, who has led the company since 2011, has been instrumental in transforming Apple by more than quintupling the company's market capitalization and launching a number of key products, including the iPhone, iPad and Apple Services.

John Ternus, formerly Senior Vice President of Hardware, has more than 20 years of experience at Apple. He has led product development projects for MacBooks, iPads and AirPods, as well as environmental and sustainability innovations. In 2025, Ternus was recognized as one of the most influential executives in the technology industry, underscoring the confidence shareholders and management have in his candidacy.

In an official statement, Tim Cook expressed confidence in his successor, noting, "John has a unique vision and a deep understanding of Apple's culture. I am confident that the company under his leadership will continue to create products that change the world."

Apple remains one of the most valuable and innovative companies in the world, and the upcoming leadership changes signal a commitment to continued growth and a stronger position in the global marketplace.
